Content management systems

There are many companies that will offer content management systems (CMS) for schools. These allow designated staff to update a section of the website and often include dynamic or changing content. Although these may be a solution in some cases there are disadvantages. The initial outlay may be expensive, as may on going fees. The time and ultimately cost of having a number of staff committed to providing updated content over time needs to be considered. You may be better off with sections of your website being static – a prospectus – and having other sections being updated more regularly. For example, your entry requirements are not likely to change over the course of a year but your news or newsletters section will.
